Love N' Hate (Part II)

Chapter 2

Giddly, they walked together. "Saying good bye to you is one of the hardest things I have to do," Robert told her. "I know," April said with a smile on her face. They leaned in and gently kissed. "That doesn't make it any easier either," Robert commented. "I know," April said teasing him a little. "Just one more minute," she begged.

Robert nodded. "How could I deny that request? I would love to spend way more than just a few more minutes," Robert thought to himself. They held each other close just enjoying the opportunity. These were too rare for them. "I love you," Robert said looking into her eyes. "I love you too," April replied grinning.

Staring into her eyes, he could see so very much. He knew that she loved him. He could see so much in the future for them. Nothing was so simple and pure as what he saw in her eyes. It is at these moments that he knew for sure that she also knew that he felt exactly the same way. The feelings they shared were simple and clear.

Nothing could deny the truth. They cared for each other in a way that could not always be described in words. It wasn't always the big things. It was just the way that she smiled, the way he looked at her, and all the little things that happened. It was the simple words, feelings, and expressions that wrapped them together. It was love.

"I have to get back soon," Robert told her. "I know, I know," she said her voice filled with desire. "Maybe just a few more minutes," he responded not wanting to break their closeness until absolutely necessary. They cuddled together expressing so much by saying so little. That's the way their love worked. Words were just icing on the cake.

Time was not their friend though. It seemed to fly by with triple speed. Not wanting it to ever end, but also knowing that he needed to go. He looked at her and kissed her. "It's time for us to head back," he told her. Sorrowful she replied, "I know." "I hate to have to leave, but I must. You have no idea how much I would rather stay here with you," Robert commented. "Are you sure," she inquired with a sparkle in her eyes.

Robert grinned and shook his head. "I can't say that I am," Robert said standing. April got to her foot and put her arm around him. Smiling, Robert returned the favor. Slowly they started moving back towards the city. Walking side by side, admiring the nature around them. They were enjoying the last few minutes that they could share together for the day.

Leaving her side wasn't the end of the world for him or her. But rather a time of anticipation of the next time they would get to share together. They were not always crystal clear about when the next time would be. It could be tomorrow, two days, or even longer. Life did not cease, but life was not necessarily the same.

When they were together, the world was simple. The burdens of life felt partially relieved. Holding her hand, he felt like he had never had before. A surge of life flowed through him when she was near. Because of her, he felt alive with the hot breath of love.

Walking together gave them time to chit chat and it gave them time to enjoy holding hands. One might say it was one of their favorite pasttimes. It would give them time to say good-bye and to start their hope for the next meeting. It was never easy for them to do it, but unfortunately it had to be done.

Lovingly, Robert took her hand and kiss it. "Till another time, my love," he told April. "Till another time, hun," April repied. They brought each other close and held. For what could have been a while, they waited not wanting to move, but knowing that at some point soon they would have to.

After a few minutes, they stood apart and looked at each other. Neither one really wanted to say good-bye. Neither one of them really wanted to go, but time was not on their side. They kept wishing that it was different in that way, but alas it was not yet their time. Robert started walked away towards the palace and he felt so happy for the time they spent together.

"Even if my world ended today, it has been much better because I got to spend it with her. I feel so lucky that I get to share time with her," he told himself. Joyfully, he walked back to the palace singing a song of joy. The grin on his heart could never be washed away even with the third worst news he could hear.
