Maute Nuela (Part II)

Chapter 4

Robert sighed and held April close. She meant the world to him and he was always afraid he never expressed it well. Sometimes he had the gift of words and sometimes he had the curse of them. He never knew which would accompany him on any given day. One of his greatest fears is that he would fail to express himself well.

"I love you," he whispered to her. She gently kissed his nose. Opening her eyes, she grinned and replied, "I love you too." There was no doubt in either of htier minds. Sometimes they doubted themselves. Sometimes they feared stupid little things that they knew would never happen. Is that no the nature of relationship? We fear the impossible.

Reassurancecan come in a gentle kiss, whisper, or touch. They knew they had found somethign very special. They had disagreements, but they hadn't found any huge arguments to loom over them. It was a strong bond they hsared which they both appreciated. There was no doubt about that.

Robert sat there staring into April's eyes. She was staring into his. They were holding hands enjoying each others company in the relative silence. The only sounds coming to their ears were the small creatures scurrying here and there. How could they not enjoy this private piece of paradise? After all, how often does one get to be in a little slice of perfection?

"Thank you," Robert commented. "For what," she inquired. "For all of this," he said with a grin. "No thank you. It was all your fault," she replied. He looked at her and laughed. "You are so silly," he said holding her hand firmly. "Yeah... but so are you," she commented.

Robert was about to speak when he heard something unnatural move. April looked at him inquisitively and whispered, "What?" He looked towards an opening towards the garden. "I heard something," he whispered back. April turned towards where he was looking. "Who is there," Robert called out.

A small man emerged from the opening. "Sorry to disturb you, your majesty," the man said bowing. April blinked hard and then looked towards Robert. "Do I know you," Robert asked. The man looked up at Robert and then away for a second. "I am afraid that your memory seems to be worse than we had hoped," the man commented.

"Let me introduce myself, sire. My name is Leo Nardo. I have been your personal servant since you first was under the care of the Emperor Robert Russ III, your father. I have been ordered to serve you throughout your life and I shall do so. I have heard of your reemergence from sources and thought it was rumor. When I came here, I was shocked to see you again. I am now your servant to do as you need. Anything I can get you, I shall do," the man informed Robert.

"I see... but I don't need a servant. Thank you for the offer, but I don't really need your assistance. You are free from any previous bonds you had with me," Robert commented. The man nodded and replied, "I can not return back to Fenia to serve Secfenia or the Emperor as a price shall be on my head for not killing you as I 'should'. I am in debt to you for saving me many times. Let me pay it," the man commented.

Robert sighed. "I don't think you can talk him out of it, love," April whispered to Robert. "I've noticed. I could try, but something tells me you are right, but what am I going to do with him," he whispered back with a smile. "We'll find something," April said confidently. Robert nodded.

"Leo, your proposal is acceptable. Relax a little while and we shall see what we can do for the future," Robert said. "Thank you, your majesty. I will never forget your kindness of past, present, and future. May your heart be a model for future generations," Leo commented with a bow. Robert shifted slightly with embarassment. "I shall take my leave," Leo commented exiting the garden.

"What was all that about," April asked. "Well, if you hadn't asked, I would have asked you," Robert said shrugging. "Something tells me that we are in for more suprises like that," she commented. "I can't argue with you there. It seems like more and more people are getting wind of the fact that I am back. This is very unsettling for me especially since I know I don't have all my memories back," Robert said with a heavy sigh.

April kissed his forehead. "Don't worry, baby. We'll make it through. After all, I'm by your side once again," she said reassuredly. Robert smiled. "I never doubted it. It's only fitting that our journey takes us back here. This is after all where we made our promise to be by each other's sides during thick and thin," Robert commented.

April nodded. "A strange place called Maute Nuela. What does the name mean? Who knows? No one in modern day. The only thing I know is this is our special place. No one can take that away," Robert stated.
