Reborn (Part I)

Chapter 1

Fue slammed the door to the Viceroy's old palace and walked away. "I don't care. It's not my fight. It's not me. I've done everything I can. They don't need me. I don't need them," he yelled walking away. He threw off his hat alongside the side of the unmaintained path. He turned away and didn't look back.

Journeying into the woods, he looked away from his past. He took a voyage of incredible odds. One would find it hard to believe that anyone would take this trip, but alas when one is angry and upset at the world, one does not always make the wisest of decisions.

Going through the paths, he wound up on the top of a mountain. Sitting down, he looked over the world and laughed. "The whole world is my slave. I own it all... in my dreams. From here, nothing could stop me. They are but ants. They are nothing to me from here. Yet, when I am there, I am one of the most wanted individuals," Fue commented.

Looking around, he saw nothing but trees, flowers, mountains, and tiny specks in the distance that might have been cities. Up here, things made sense to him, he was to play a part in the world. He played his part or did he? He wondered if he was a puppet to some greater plan that he didn't know about.

"How do I fit into this world? I've had so much taken away from me. What do I have left? It is only me alone. I have no one else. I wonder sometimes if there is any point to me being here on this place. Is my goal to hurt the Emperor for everything he did? Was Jonathan right to say that I've gone too far? Maybe, just maybe, he was," Fue commented.

He picked up a rock and threw it at a tree. The tree rocked slightly and swayed. Fue picked up another rock and was about to throw it again when a voice came out of nowhere, "Fue... don't." He looked around for a person and saw no one.

Fue shrugged and threw the rock against the tree. "Fue... listen... don't," the voice said again. Fue turned around searching for someone hidden maybe in a tree or somewhere. "Who are you? Reveal yourself," Fue demanded taking out his sword. "Always quick with the sword, Fue," the voice asked. Fue kept glancing around hoping that something would seem out of place.

"Alright, this is not funny. Reveal yourself and I will hear you out more, but if you do not, then I know you are a coward," Fue commented. The voice laughed and replied, "Fue, it's impossible for you to see me. I'm not really fully here at all. I was asked to speak to you because you need a guide."

"A guide? Why would I need a guide," Fue asked. The tree started to move. "Because you don't realize the pain you bring others because of the pain that others brought to you," the tree informed him. "I must be on some serious stuff for me to see and hear that," Fue said under his breathe.

"Fue de Joie, you need to work through your issues with your past. If you don't the past will end up repeating itself. Since you are the last of your family... you might want to reconsider that risk. Without you, there will be no future for your line. Without your line, the world will be quite a different place," the voice informed him.

"So, you are saying that the reason why I've been so wanting to strike back at the empire is because of the past and if I do, then I will end up with a similar fate as the emperor's son," Fue asked. A rush of wind passed through the trees and the one talking tree snapped in half and landed on the ground.

"It only takes a few rocks to bring down a tree. Remember that, Fue... Remember that," the voice said echoing away into the distance. Fue looked off. He saw the tiny little dots in the countryside and for the first time in a long time he began to cry.

All of his memories of the past came flooding back to him. His heart ached. He remember his love and her death. He had never been able to feel love again since that day. He refused to. After all, why love when one can get hurt by the end of the scorpion's tail? Why have to go through that pain?

Nothing had made sense for Fue. His whole life had spiraled out of control so fast. Everything happy was thrown away. Every last trace of it removed from his being. He had lost his desire to be happy. Every day his driving force had been revenge. It had been to repay for his losses. Now, he was faced with the concept of what to do after his first major repayment.
