The Gray World
By Nathan Albright (2001)

I live inside a gray world
Where the depression and sorrow
Inside of me lay.
People can think
That I am such a happy person,
But they do not know
What lies deep inside of me.
Why must I be alone,
Starved for affection and love
When so much love
Surrounds me on all sides?
Why must these dark feelings
Dwell within me without giving me
Some kind of release?
Outside the sky turns gray,
Reflecting what I feel inside
As my joy turns to sorrow.
Perhaps someday
I will find the love I seek,
But not today.
