There Will Be No Sweet Love For Me
By Nathan Albright (2000)

NOTE: This poem was published in the International Library of Poetry collection "The Falling Rain"

I see you standing in the fading light
Your dress shimmering in the warm breeze
As the warm desert sunset bathes you
In a radiant glow.
I know you love him still,
As much as you tell me
That you are over him,
And though I am sure
Your kisses are as sweet as honey,
I know that your heart
Lies with the one who left you.
I place my hand on your shoulder,
And tell you I will always be there,
And I will always be there,
Though I know that your heart
Will not be there for me,
Because that is how life goes
For a heart as lonely and rejected as mine.
