Chapter 4
Robert sat down in the meadow. The day was nearing its end. He grinned watching the sun set. The gentle breeze brushing against his cheeks. A whisper of the wind played against his lips. His memory filled with thoughts of April. The world seemed like a perfect place when they were together. Separation from her was just more reason to want to see her again soon.
"It's not like I can't live if I don't see her. It's just I would rather see her sooner than later," he told no one in particular. "When she is away, I think of her. When she is near, I think of her. I guess one could say I just think of her quite a bit," Robert commented. A man next to Robert smiled. "You have it bad, dude. You know that," the man asked.
Robert nodded. "I know I do. She has walked into my life and without knowing how she entered my heart. I don't know how we got to where we are, but I definately ain't complaining," Robert commented to his friend. "You shouldn't, man. This is the happiest I have ever seen you. You've been talking about her all the time. Obviously, you care about her and I don't see any way that she couldn't care for you the same way," the friend commented.
"Who would have ever guessed that a lady would ever find me as attractive as I find her," Robert commented. His friend laughed. "You realize that there are times when things happen on purpose," his friend told Robert. "Yes, I do. I feel so lucky that me and her have this chance. I thought that this would never happened. When I first met her, I never expected it," Robert said. "Sometimes good things come to those who wait," his friend commented back.
Robert smiled up into the sky and watched as some of the stars above started to poke out onto the black canvas. "I'm so happy for you, Robert. She makes you very happy and I bet you make her very happy. What you two have is a gift. To me, as long as you are happy, it's all good," his friend told him. "Thanks. You are an awesome friend," Robert said. "Well, I gotta jet. See ya," his friend said leaving. Robert smiled and nodded.
Staring up, he noticed the light had disappeared from his view. The only thing left was the gentle night light. This was one of his favorite areas to be. At night, one could see up into the sky without any interference. There was nothing around for miles and no one to bother you when you wanted to sit back and enjoy nature. The only thing that was missing was who he got to share this area with occasionally.
"I wonder if she is staring up into the same sky I am, wondering what I am thinking right now. I wonder if she is thinking of me tonight. I wonder when I shall be able to spend some time with her next. My heart longs for the next time we can be together. The next time our hands can hold each other. The next time my lips can touch hers," Robert commented outloud.
A shooting star flew across the sky. "If wishes could come true...," he whispered. He closed his eyes and laid down. His mind was flooded with scenes of their past. He remembered her cute smile staring at him. The visions of her looking at him with the same sort of passion and love that he had for her. He knew he was indeed special and that this lady was special to him. There's nothing in the world that can warm a heart than the knowledge of that.
