Chapter 4

Chris sat down at a stool in the pub. "I'd like a shirly templace," he told the bartender. The bartender grinned and delivered the drink as requested. Chris look it over and picked the cherry off from the top of it. He placed the cherry on a napkin.

"Don't like cherries," the bartender asked. "It depends on my mood. Sometimes it just spoils everything and sometimes without it, the drink ain't right," Chris commented. "I see. Not in a mood for a cherry on top, but sitll wanting a cherry flavored drink though," the bartender noted. "Yes, I know, I know. It's very unusual behavior," Chris commented. "Not more so than some of the stuff I've seen," the bartender informed him.

Chris nodded and took a few sips of his drink. "Is April working today," Chris inquired. The bartended nodded and replied, "Want me to go get her?" Chis nodded and watched the bartender go into the back. Chris swirled his drink around watching the mini-twister in his glass. He placed some coins on the bar and grinned.

April did not keep him waiting long. She sat down next to him. "Shall we take a little walk," she asked. Chris nodded and stood up. They both exited the pub and began to walk down the main path of Fenia. Silently they walked until they reached the outer areas of Fenia. Finding a nice area to chat, they stopped.

"How did the voyage go," she asked. "Well, it was very odd to say the least," Chris commented. "Oh, in what way," she inquired. "To make it short, nothing was as it seemed," Chris commented. She looked at him oddly. "I guess that I'm not going to get away with that statement, right? You'll want more details," Chris said. She nodded.

"First off, he seemed to know the way there better than I did. I don't know how and he didn't either. I tried to make mistakes to test his knowledge of the area and he knew we were going the wrong way. Somehoe, some way, he knew where he was. It shouldn't be possible, but someone told him.

"Then, he knew the city. Or at least the outer city. He knew about some places there I didn't know. He told me memories of times where the city was alive with people. He described to me stuff that no one knoews for sure or at least no one I've ever known. He told me about the old pub there and how people visited there quite a bit ago years ago. He told me about regulars at the pub!

"When we were in the garden, he told me about how much he loved this place and the creatures htat inhabited it. He told me about beautiful betterlies and other things thriving there. But how? Nothing has been there in years. The garden is almost void of anything living except for the plants.

"He knew about the inner city and the wall. He knew it had a code and he was very frustrated that he didn't know it. He expected to know it and was upset that he hd forgotten it. So frustrated that he got very upset at himself. He went to relax in the garden where he ended up sleeping.

"On our way back, he seemed to argue with himself. Everything he thought he knew was challenged and things he didn't know he knew were exposed. Only one thing I can tell you that I know he came to a single conclusion," Chris informed her. "Waht would that be," she asked knowing that he was prompting her. "He came to the conclusion that he wasn't Alex. He's not sure who he is, but he knows he isn't Alex," he commented.

"Very odd. You've spent some good time with him. Does he look familiar or sound familiar to anyone we might have known in the underground or maybe elsewhere," April asked. Chris looked at her and thought i over for a few seconds. "I don't recall anyone like him being mentioned before and he's not very familiar to me at all. Then again, I haven't been doing this long enought o recognize too many faces," Chris told her.

She nodded and replied, "Bring him here tomorrow, we'll see if I recognize him." Chris smiled. "Maybe we can help bring back memories that can help us," Chris commented. "Or maybe memories that can help him," April thought. "I'll go hunt him down now and bring him in as soon as I can," Chris said. "Excellent. Safe journey then," she said. "Safe Journey," Chris said leaving her presence.

April walked back to the pub and sat down at a stool. "What was all that about," the bartender asked. "Oh, just a stroll down memory lane that didn't turn out quite right. Memories took him down a path and now it's our turn to attempt to help him master his memories and become one once again," April said with a smile. The bartender looked at her grinning. "Maybe, this is what she needs too. A project to help her mend her heart," he thought.
