Chapter 1

Lufue Zue smiled as he put his compas into his pack. It was one of the final items that he would be in need of during his mission. This mission was like no other he had done. The risks and challenges of it seemed to make him want to do it even more. He knew that he had to try and remove the blemish to the world around him. Normally, the world he loved in was a beautiful place. A few bad spots might arise here and there, but nothing that ruined the world. The biggest blot against the beautiful paradise that he lived in was the reemergance of the Imperial Secfenia. They were threatening the concept of Secfeia Unity. It was the job of all Secfenians to fight against them. Almost all of the nations had declared war against them.

Lufue's nation was no different. They had declared war and he was the agent that would make the most descructive blow against Imperial Secfenia. He was perfect for the job since he had never had a wife. His family has passed on except for brothers and sisters which was good cause they could carry on the Zue name. So, that's why Lufue made himself the person for the job. Besides, he had been the one who had found the weakness in their defense. All he had to do was crawl across and through a maze of underground tunnels filled with night animals that did not like being disturbed in the day. He only then would have to avoid detection from an enemy that would ruthlessly torture him if caught. If he could do that, then he would only have to find the main shield generator, set a bomb, and then leave. If all went well, then he'd come back and lead the troops to an easy victory.

Double-checking his list of supplies, Lufue heard a knock on his door. "Who is it," Lufue asked. "I am a representative of the Viceroy. I have come to talk with you very briefly," the visitor said from the other side of the door. Lufue came to the door and unlocked it. He opened it slightly. "Briefly is good, because I have matters of the state to attend to shortly," Lufue commented. "Yes, I know. I wish to talk to you about that. Lufue Zue, this shall be the last time I see you. Your journey ahead will be filled with difficulties. Everything you think you know will be challenged," the man said. Lufue looked at him. "How did you know of my journey," Lufue asked quizically. "Don't worry. Only you, myself, and the Mages know of your journey. But I have been commanded to tell no one about it," the man said. Lufue looked at him and nodded. "I see. You see to know a lot for a representative," Lufue commented. "I happen to be one of the most trusted representatives. I am Michael Angelo and I am rarely sent out unless the message is important enough," Michael informed him. "I see. And is that all of the message," Lufue asked. "The visions from the Mages tell us that your future is cloudy. I fear that our worlds will never meet again," Michael noted solomnly. "Maybe we shall as long as thing go well," Lufue added. Michael Angelo nodded and walked away.

"I wonder what all that fuss was about. I have to make sure I beef up security a bit more. Seems like anyone can walk in these days," Lufue said with a sigh. He picked up his bag and headed out the door. He knew his adventure was beginning and it would be a wild ride. Secretly, he walked through most of New Fullerium and into the forest area near the mountains. He then followed them till he cound the old path of the mages. This path tended to be an internationally off limits area. There were those who believed that one could not even walk on these paths without incurring the wrath of the mages. These paths were believed to lead straight to the living area of the mages. The few that had publically announced their intentions to go the path fully never came back alive.

Only one person has made it back and forth and that person was Viceroy Robert Russ III. He was rumored to talk with the mages often. He was a very benevolent man and as legend goes "only the purest of hearts can stay in the Mages presense". Lufue remembered a lot about the deceased man. He had tried to do many things for the people. If it hadn't been for the Viceroy, the lands of New Fullerium would have never been given to the people. For years, Robert Russ III had tried to give people more and more freedoms. He helped with the constitutions. He was generally considered to be one of the brightest shining lights that existed in history. Unfortuntely, he met his untimely demise due to the dagger of his ex-wife. She had later cried over it, but alas, it was too late for her former husband.

Lufue found the marker he was looking for and went off the old path of the mages. He had heard about this cave and network of tunnels that would lead through the mountains. He also knew that the few people who had tried it in the past never returned. Pushing the brush away from the cave's enterance, Lufue went head first into this dark world. He has memorized the paths had would have to take. The first thing he noticed as he crawled through to get to flat tunnel land was that there were lanterns to light up the tunnels. The fire inside seemed to burn constantly without and chance of wasting away. As he rounded through some of the twists and turns, he found many a skeleton. Lufue ignored them and walked through knowing he would need to keep his head clear and focused. He knew that if he could just concentrate he could do what others didn't.

Plunging further into these caves, Lufue started to feel the temperature drop. Taking out a shirt, Lufue knew he did well to listen to the advice of the ancient texts. He saw crystals around him on the top of the cieling and on parts of the floor. "This is truly amazing! Look at all these pure crystals. These would sell for lots of money if even mined. I have never seen such beauty," Lufue commented to no one in particular. He walked around the natural formations admiring them and not wanting to damange them. As he looked around them, he noticed some white creatures hanging from the cieling. He had read a little about them before in some of the texts. They were a creature that would eat some of the pigments from the environment around them. The advice in the book was very simple - "Don't wake them". Lufue's heart nearly stopped as he tip-toed through the areas hoping not to wake them. They were a very interesting looking creature. He had never seen it and didn't know what to think of it. The creature had four wings and a long tail. At the end of the tail, there were almost little feet that hung on to the wall above. The head was on the other side and it had 2 eyes that Lufue hoped he would never see.

Quietly, Lufue got past most of the crystal area. He knew he would be getting close soon. Just a few more paths and he could see sunlight again. He kept walking and started to notice his boots were getting wet from a small little stream. He also knew that he still had to go down a little more. As he kept treading further and further the temperature was starting to drop. He began to feel the cold to the bone. Starting to shiver, he blew his breathe into his hands to warm them up. The noise echoed in the small area and caused a screeching noise to come out from above. Lufue looked up and noticed one of the white creatures heading straight towards him in a not so friendly manner. Lufue ducked the the creature missed him by a few centimeters. He looked up and saw the creature planning a second pass.

Lufue bent down and looked around. He then grabbed a handful of water and threw it onto the creature. It hissed and flew away screeching and whining the whole time. Lufue grinned. "So, water is their weakness. Guess that was never quite found out. Have to add that to our knowledge base," Lufue commented wiping his forehead. He stood back up and headed further down the pathway. The further he went, the fewer lanterns existed on the walls to light the path. It got to a point where it was very, very dark. He could feel the temperature drop even more as the light faded from existance. The path even seemed to drop towards the core of the planet. His boots which were wet seemed to hit against small objects. He knew it couldn't be those white creatures, but what was it.

Deeper into the darkness he walked and the water that was below seemed to slow and became chunky. With more steps, the ground began to feel very slippery. Taking some tentative steps, he came to the realization of what had happened to the water. It had turned to ice. He carefully walked to avoid slipping in this unknown area. He stopped for a second thinking he had heard another sound. It almost seemed like there was a sound of steam ahead. He walked somewhat quickly towards the sound. He could see faintly a light at the end of the tunnel. A new sound entered his hearing... and it was underneath him! The creeking and cracking of the ice startled him, but he proceeded cautiously now knowing how deep this half-ice, half-water area was. The air temperature seemed to fly high. He was actually beginning to sweat. He wiped his forehead off with his cuff and continued onward. He could see the light was coming from a point above the end of the tunnel. He quickly approached it and saw what challenege was next for him. He smiled seeing the bright sun again. Slowly climbing up, he knew he had done what no one else recently has done. Survive the journey through the underside of the mountains.

After he had climbed up the upward tunnel, he sat down and smiled. "Don't get too happy Lufue. You have just completed about a third of your mission," he reminded himself. He took out of his pack a uniform that was made for him. The uniform looked similar to the Imperial Secfenia soldiers uniform. Trying it on, he had to smile. "Looks good," he said smugly. He then took out a metal pin and placed it in the ground of the tunnel downwards with his clothes he was wearing tied to it. "I'll retrieve these later," Lufue commented. Confident that all else would fall into place he started heading towards the a city that intelligence told him would not notice an outsider since the city was a sojourner town anyway. He would approach the town the next day after a good rest. He laid his things down and tried to stare up into the skies. He was saddened, because all he could see was a glowing blue hue. "Damn that shield. Blocks everything good," Lufue cursed out loudly. Slowly, he fell into a sleep.

The next morning came and Lufue packed up and headed towards the town. He walked into the main pub and asked the barmaid where the military office was. She pointed him towards a dark green building in the distance. Lufue nodded and left. He walked towards the building and entered the front door. A man at the desk looked him over. "Private, you going to assist our army," the man asked. "Yes, sir," Lufue responded. "Excellent. We could use your help this week. We have a bunch of ensigns and we've been assigned guard duty in East Fenia. We're glad you came. We've been waiting," the man informed him. "Alright Private Wessev, let's get the guys going," the man commented. Lufue nodded and followed him through the back door. "All right, listen up, Private Wessuv will be your commanding officer if you are in group beta. Group Alpha, you are mine," the man told the soldiers. They nodded and said in unison, "Yes, Sir!". The man grinned. "Alright, let's move out," the man ordered them. "Yes, sir, General Sir," they replied again in sync.

The soldiers walked behind Lufue and the General step by step. Quietly they marched into the city of East Fenia. The General nodded towards Lufue. "We shall stay out here to protect the city of North Fenia. You shall proceed to East Fenia," the general told Lufue. Lufue nodded. "Group beta, off to East Fenia double time," Lufue ordered. The men followed behind. Very quickly they arrived in East Fenia. "Sir, will you want assistance guarding the core," one ensign asked. "I'll take two men with me, ensign. You're volunteered and the one next to you as well," Lufue told him. "Yes, sir," the two said. They followed him and he walked towards a red building. His intelligence agency had done a great job in giving him details. He walked to the door. I want you two to guard right outside the building. I need to check on something and I shall be out in just a few minutes," Lufue ordered. They nodded.

Lufue smiled and quickly went into the interior. He took out of his pack a bomb. "This should do it well," Lufue said with a grin. He placed it right next to the shield generator. "Everything is going right according to plan," he said tying the bomb to the panel near the generator. "What should make them laugh is the fact that it uses their own system to destroy their own system," Lufue explained to thin air. Lufue hooked it up to the system and took out the remote switch. Just then, he heard the door open. An ensign came through the door. "What are you doing," the ensign asked. "Just checking something," Lufue told him. Unconvinced, the ensign opened the door and yelled for help. "Damn it," he yelled as he hit the remote. A blue glow surrounded him. "Viva Secfenia," Lufue said seeing the bomb cause a surge and then he closed his eyes waiting for the miloseconds of time till his death. "At least, Secfenia will be free again even though I am dead," Lufue thought.
