Chapter 3

Liza stared out the window watching the weather. It seemed to calm a little and then she saw flashes of lightning. She patiently waited for its normal life partner, but alas she was disappointed. The Thunder seemed to have left. Her heart began to sink in her chest. She knew something was wrong. She could feel it to her very core. It was all over... She knew her happiness was sinking to a depth she may never find again.

She fell to her knees and sobbed. "I love you, Amindamula," she said through the tears. Her fear had multiplied. Her doubts had gained many a friend. All around her, she felt the walls coming down. She felt as if everything she knew was gone. She cried so much that the rainstorm was jealous of how much water she released.

She forced herself to sit back on her bed. "They should be coming soon. They'll let me know one way or another. Maybe, I'm just fearing the worst. Maybe, I'm just crazy. Maybe he's alright... but I feel so alone," Liza told herself. She stared off into space with her mind torturing her. She couldn't stop its brutal tactics, but instead she got even more twisted into them.

Her relief came with a knock on the door. She tried to compose herself and slowly walk towards the door. "Think good thoughts. Think good thoughts," Liza instructed her mind. Her mind refused and flooded with all types of horrible possibilities. She slowly opened the door hoping it was him. Instead, she found Hog.

"Lady Liza, how are you," Hog asked. "I am...," she attempted to respond, but couldn't find a word to describe how she was feeling. "I see. I haven't heard from Amindamula and was wondering if you might have," Hog inquired. Liza shook her head. "I see, Sorry to intrude on you. If you hear from him, please let me know," Hog requested. Liza nodded her head. Hog turned around and then stopped. "Don't worry, he'll be back for you Liza. I know he will be," Hog said trying to comfort her. Liza looked at him and nodded. Hog smiled and left.

Liza closed the door and sat down on her chair. "He's gone... I know it. Even Hog has no clue what happened. If Hog doesn't know where he is, then something horrible happened. Was he caught? Is he in prison? What does it mean that he'll be back? Is he on another mission? Is there something he knows that he isn't tellingme," Liza thought outloud. Her emotions were turning faster than a blade on a fan on high speed. She felt Rage, depression, joy, and fear all at once. The emotions confused, comforted, and disturbed her. She didn't know what to think.

Another knock came on her door. She answered the door and saw a young lady. Liza turned her head to the side. The girl rushed into her arms. The girl hugged her tightly and said, "I'm sorry." Liza held her tightly and cried. She knew what it had to be, but had to know if it was. "Is he gone," Liza asked the girl. "Yes, I heard about it today from a guard. He died fighting for us, Liza. I'm sorry he's gone," she told Liza.

"He helped save our hope for the future. I just wished he didn't have to...," she told Liza trailing off in tears. "My hope is gone. He was my future. He was my life," Liza commented. "Everything I hoped for revolved around me and him. Everything I had desired for the future was for us. Why did it have to happen now? He was getting out," she told the girl.

"But he helped us all out, hun. He has made sure that our future can be bright. He helped us release the hope for us all. He is a hero," she told Liza. "I don't care so much about that right now. I wanted my future with him," Liza said walking away. "I wanted him. Not anyone else," she told the girl.

"Liza... I know this must be hard for you. I can only imagine what I would do if I was in your situation. I don't know. But at last, we do have hope. Maybe the world around us will get better," she told Liza. "My world never can be. My world is over," Liza cried out in pain.

"Liza, I was told that I was supposed to deliver something to you," the girl told her. She took out a pouch and handed it to her. "It was supposed to be given to you if he was unable to," she let Liza know. Liza nodded and gently took the pouch. She opened it slowly and saw something that brought in a flood of conflicting emotions.

The girl gasped and stood in shock and amazement. "I... I... have to go," the girl said to her as she left the doorway. Liza stared at what was in her hand. It looked somewhat odd in her palm. After all, that's not where it was supposed to go. But then again, she wasn't supposed to have it handed to her by that one girl either.

Liza smiled for an instant and imagined that her love had indeed handed her this gift. She flew into a dreamworld where she saw Amindamula taking her hand and kissing it. She saw him go down on one knee and take out the pouch. He would then have slowly taken it out and proposed to her. She would have cried tears of joy. She would have said yes. She would have planned the wedding. She would have been a very happy bride. She would have loved her life.

Instead a crash of thunder took her away from her vision of her happiness. The world returned to a very dark image. Her face changed and she put on the ring. Starring at it, she collapsed onto the floor. Her anger at the world multiplied. Her loss seemed unsurmountable. Everything in her life spinned. She starred up into the sky and yelled, "Why?"
