Chapter 4

April woke up and laid in her bed. Tears were streaming down her eyes. Her room had a chill that made her not want to get out of the covers. They were very warm and offered some soft of comfort after her dream. Staring out on the semi-darkness of her room she wondered about the dream.

She knew she could feel him so close. She knew she could feel his being next to her. It felt so good to have him back even for a second. Now that he was gone again, a feeling of loneliness crept upon her. Everything just seemed to fade to an off white around her.

She had dreamed that he was back. She dreamed that fate had reversed its decision, but now that she awoke she felt as if all that was gone. "Was it all a dream," she asked herself. She had some vivid dreams before that he had returned. After all, her heart ached for it. However, when he eyes opened, the dream ended and she was forced back into her blue world.

No one knew how blue her world had become. She wasn't the type to broadcast her feelings to the world. She wasn't the type to just fall apart at such a loss either. Inside she was hurting. Outside, everything was fine.

April signed and wiped her eyes. It was a very good dream. She had imagined that he came back to her. He didn't know his name, but remembered how special she was to him. She dreamed that they spent time together. She dreamed that they kissed.

How many times had she thought about his lips on hers? How many times had she thought about him holding her tight? How many times did she desire his touch, his gentle caress? How often had she desired to hear him express his love? She wanted him close again. So much that she dreamed of it.

"But it was only a dream," she said with a heavy sigh. Staring up at the cieling, she tried to comfort herself. How many times had she dreamed of him? One couldn't count it on one hand. After all, could one blame her? They had become so close. They longed for each other in life. Just because one was gone, it didn't mean her feelings had changed.

She had many memories of the past. There were so happy together. Together they had shared so much. She had felt so lucky to find him. He knew he was lucky to find her (which she also knew). Almost everything was looking good for them.

Then things changed and he was gone. Her world which had been shifted once was shifted again. A certain air of chill wafted over her. She felt so alone. She wanted to be with him, but that wasn't possible. A simple touch, a reassurance - was that too much to ask? It seemed so at the moment. For she would recieve neither.

She rolled over on her bed and sighed. "I wanted him to share this with me," she thought to herself. Memories and dreams tugged at her heart. She knew she had lost a very important part. She knew she had lose him. That's why his final words were "I'm sorry".

She was very sorry. There were so many things she felt so guilty not saying while he was alive. "Why didn't I tell him how I felt more? He was always very good at telling me," she asked herself. She buried her face in the pillow.

"He was always so kind and loving to me. He almost always seemed to know how I felt and what to say. Sometimes he knew better what I wanted than I did. But what did I do for him? He always did stuff for me, but did I ever do my fair share. I always tried, but did I ever? I could have done a lot more," she commented to herself.

No reassurance was coming forth. She rolled back over onto her back. Was this the way her day had to start? She was missing him so badlt. Could one blame her? She had shared with him everything and now he was gone.

A knock came on her door. "Come in," she sighed. The door opened slightly. Slowly, Robert came in. "Good day, my love," he said sitting on her bed. She grinned and hugged him. "I love you," she whispered holding him tight.

Robert held her tightly and replied with a smile, "I love you too. Enjoyed a little nap?" April nodded and knew that it wasn't all just a dream. he had returned and they were truly together again. Her heart jumped with joy. Her doubts were squashed under the boulder of their love.

Letting him go, she stared into his eyes. She knew he could tell she had creid. She closed her eyes feeling his finges wiping away the tears. "Is my baby, okay," he asked with a hint of concern. She nodded and opened her eyes. He stared into them and knew she was indeed okay.

"I am now. I was so afraid it was all a dream," she thought. Robert gently caressed her face. Reassurance decided to come after all. He leaned in and kissed her forehead. She was warm once more. The chill of the room seemed to be retreating. The color of the room seemed to flow back in.

Robert laid down next to her and snuggled with her. She felt like she was at one with him once again. She felt like she was where she belonged - in his arms lying next to him. Was there a greater feeling in the world? If there was, few people have ever found it.

"Thank you," April whispered. "For what," Robert asked. "Everything. You are very kind to me," she replied holding him tight. "You deserve that and a lot more," Robert commented. "You are definately a romantic," she stated. "One of the few that have survived," he said kissing her cheek.

They laid there together listening to each other's body happily. It was something they both had longed for for quite a while now. They were together. She knew their journey together wasn't at an end. In fact, it had just started again. She looked forward to traveling down the road of life with him by her side.
