Reborn (Part II)

Chapter 3

Sitting on my bed, I looked at that damn cart. For crying out loud, why couldn't I just get myself to look at it. Was there really something for me to be worried about? "I might as well just try and look at it. Why not? I could learn something really good about the past," I said standing up and looking over the cart.

I saw several articles of clothing. I took out one and noticed it was a cloak. I tried it on and it fit perfectly. I put the hood over my head and it covered most of my face from vision. "Viva Secfenia," a voice whispered inside my head. I stopped for a second and looked around. "Is someone here," I asked aloud. I turned around and saw nothing. Looking for something to jump out or at least move, I scanned the room slowly.

Finding nothing, I removed the hood and looked inside the cart again. I picked up a few books and thumbed through them. Some of them were written in a language I could not understand or at least I don't remember understanding. I put them down and found a note in one of the books. I opened the note up. It read:

"Alex, these times are very trying. I fear for your life since you are entering a very dangerous time. The emperor wants your head on a silver platter. Anyone who knows anything about this mystery man is supposed to turn you in for a million diner bonus. Even though I am so close to the throne's ears, I won't turn you in, but I warn you to get away from Fenia - as far as you can get.

"I hope this note reaches you quickly and without any of the pains that I mentioned above occuring first. If you want, just go into the Maute Nuela some time in the future to retrieve all that you may need. I've asked for them to stock up quite a bit for you. They will only respond to either you or me asking to take it out as there will be nothing of note inside for anyone else.

"May happiness, joy, peace, and love follow your path all the days of your life. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. You'll get there soon enough. Just keep your spirits high and we'll be wishing for your safe return to Fenia when you can return. You'll know when you can."

I closed the letter and found a ring. I put the ring on my finger and the jewel on top of it glowed. A beautfiul emerald green glow came from the jewel. "Viva Secfenia," the voice said said. "Who's there," I asked once more to no avail. "As if I needed another voice in my head during these times", I thought to myself.

I picked up a journal of notes. I opened it up and looked at the dedication in the front. It was hand written. It said, "To Alex, who has stood for truth, justice, and the true Secfenia way. May this book prove to be an inspiration as it has to me." The name Alex did sound familiar to me. It filled me up with a homely feel. Was that my name? It sounded like it belonged to me. It seemed so very natural.

Rumaging through some of the stuff in the cart, I found numerous other documents that were either addressed to Alex or belonged to Alex. I even found a document that stated Alex was born Alexander Jasmine Jackson. This was a lot of information about Alex and all of it seemed so very familiar. Finding another sheet, I saw the family tree of Alex. He had two sisters, Angela Jessica Jackson and Beatrice May Jackson.

Getting myself elbow deep into this information, I tried to soak it all up. Learn a little about who this Alex was. Learn a little about his past. After all, this much information wasn't something one gets everyday of their life. I was really starting to believe that this was who I was. This was the key that would unlock my past and bring me back to knowing who I am.

It was good to finally learn my name and a little about my family. Soon, maybe one day really soon, I'll get a chance to meet them. Who knows what joys the future will bring. I sat down on the bed and laid down. My eyes started to get heavy and my dreams began.
