Chapter 4
When I opened my eyes again, my mind has decided that it was time that I left this sheltered haven and discover what life could bring me in the future. Sure, I could hide from reality here for the rest of my life or until their patience grew thin, but what was the point in that? I needed to live my life, known or unknown.
I packed all the stuff that I could pack into a bag and opened the door. Doctor Rosen was there just about to knock. "Good morning, planning on leaving," she asked noticing the bag. "Yes, it's time that I got moving on my journey. I appreciate all the hospitality that you have provided me. I hope that in the future I can repay you for everything that you have for me," I told her.
"I'm sure you will find a way in the future to repay us. I have this feeling about you. We'll hear from you from time to time," she said with a smile. "Yes, you will get to hear from me, Alexander Jasmine Jackson, again soon enough," I said with a confident grin. "Alright, Alexander, I'll make sure to get some provisions ready for your journey. First, get a good meal in the stomach and plenty to drink before you leave," she requested of me.
"That sounds like a good deal to me. You can call me Alex," I told her. "Alright, Alex, follow me to the dining room and while you eat, I'll get your supplies ready," she said heading out the door. I followed closely behind her watching us go down several hall ways and finally arriving at the dinner area.
After eating what had to be one of the best dinners I had ever tasted or anyone for that matter, I stood up and prepared to leave. Doctor Rosen entered the room. "Here is everything that you may need," she said handing me another bag. "There are members of the Hope Society scattered around the whole world. If you need anything, feel free to stop by their places and ask. I'm sure they will be more than happy to help," Doctor Rosen told me.
"Thanks a lot," I told herabout ready to turn away from her and head towards what I thought was the exit. She approached me and hugged me tight. Not knowing what else to do, I hugged her back. "Alex, it's so good to see that you are alright. May your journey bring us back together again sometime soon. The door is that way and you know you are always welcomed back," she said pointing to the hallway leading out.
"I will return to this place again sometime in the future," I told her turning my back to her and started towards the exit. I stopped for a second and turned around. She was staring at me watching me. "Thanks again for everything. You really looked after me well. I won't forget your kindness and everything you did... ever," I commented. "I know," she whispered with a tear in her eye.
I turned around and walked down the hallway. I opened the door and got the first breathe of fresh air I had in a long, long time. Opening the bad she gave me, I found a map. Looking over it, I found where I was with a little help of the red 'x' she drew on it for me. I looked around and found my sense of direction. Pointing towards the horizon, I said, "That way is north."
I started heading towards the north. I knew where I needed to go to start my journey. I had to find out what was really in Fenia. From there, I could probably find out where I needed to go next.
