Reunion (Part I)

Chapter 1

Through the wide expanse, I found the path that I was looking for. Dr. Rosen had provided me a very good map. Some of the people I had talked to along the way said it wasn't too hard since all roads led to Fenia in one fashion or another. No matter, I strolled into Fenia taking in the sights and sounds of this great city. It all seemed familiar, but in the distant type of way.

Grinning, I journeyed down the road and saw many vendors selling their goods. One such called forth. "Traveler, welcome to Fenia. I sell many items you might want and some advice if ya date," the shopkeeper informed me. Looking over his carts I saw cards, flowers, and miscellaneous stuff.

One particular flower grabbed my attention. I gently touched the rose and all of a sudden I was filled with love, sorrow, joy, hurt, and so many conflicting emotions. A gentle voice whispered, "Mi a ti use amai, ami, et va amai." Not understanding what was happening, I released my fingers from the stem of the rose.

"I see you like the Ruza Rose. Rumor has it that it was blessed by the mages themselves. It is said to have the power to unlock the secrets of the heart," the shopkeeper informed me. "I see. Quite an interesting rose. Although, I have no use for it, it draws me near. You must sell quite a few of these," I commented. "Ah, but that's the thing, there are only seven of these in existance. I only have one and no one has bought it yet. Are you interested in it today," the shopkeeper asked. I shook my head. "Don't worry. I know you'll be back to get it later," the shopkeeper said with a nod.

I shrugged and walked further along the path. A part of me wanted to jump for joy. Part of me wanted to cry. "Alex, ya have to get it all together," I told myself. A sign above caught my eye. "Maybe something to eat and drink will help with it all," I said reading the sign for the pub.

Upon entering the pub, I sat down at a table. Removing my hood, I smiled and waited. My wait was not long as a young boy quickly came to my table. "Good day, sir! My name is Matthew and I will be your server tonight. If there is anything you want, just let me know and I'll tryt and get it for you. Oh, and our special today is a roasted chicken parmesean," the young boy informed me.

"Excellent, good sir. I shall have it out as quickly as possible," Matthew said with a nod and quickly disappearing. He didn't lie either because in just a short passage of time, the food was delivered hot and tasty.

I began to eat a little of it when I looked up and noticed a familiar face. "April," a voice inside my head said. I blinked for I did not know how I knew her or how I might know her name, if that was indeed her name. Apparently, I had been looking at her for a while because she looked up at me. Our eyes made contact for just a second and then she turned away.

I shrugged it off as that type of familiarity wasn't proof that I knew her personally. However, I could feel her occasional glances my way. I think I must have reminded her of someone she knew just as she did to me apparently. I looked up again and caught her glance. She turned away again and began to cry. She walked into the back area and disappeared from my view.

Matthew came up to me to check up on me. "Do you know what was wrong with the lady behind the bar," I asked. "Well, sir, she's had a very rough past few months. She ended up losing the man she loved," Matthew told me. "I see. Poor girl, I feel for her. I've lost what I might have been," I commented finishing up my meal.
